These are pictures of the Dambuster game at Salute.
The first shows the 4 Lancasters ready for flight at the begining of the day. All 4 were running most of the day and some successes were recorded. On the right are the player boards , which indicate height, speed and damage to the planes.
The second pictures is of the Lancaster on its way on a bomb run during a game. It has just past over the island and has avoided being shot down by the 88s positioned there. The use of shades of purple was to give a more night feel. The flash on the camera unfortunately bleaches this to some extent.
The final picture is of the plane nearing the dam and bomb aimer is about to shout "bomb gone" to indicate the point of release. From this point the distance is measured with a highly technical device to ascertain the distance and the result. No not a laser measure but some good old fashioned British knotted string.
